How do cruises work? Is there any flying involved?
By acarmen1Welcome back friend!
Basically I’m asking is. . Is there a flight involved with the cruise? See I want to see France and Italy, but I’m scared to death of flying, so I’m thinking about taking a cruise. Could he see what I see in France and Italy if I take a cruise from there, then return on the same cruise?

There are very few lines that regularly cross the Atlantic, and the one that does (Cunard) is very expensive. That would put you in England or France. Then you’d have to find your way around Europe to see what you want to see, and then back to Southampton or Cherbourg for another expensive cruise home.
And Cunard leaves from New York City, so you’d have to find your way there.
A number of cruise lines spend their winters in the Caribbean and their summers in the Baltics or the Mediterranean. If you were able to spend the whole summer in Europe, you might be able to take advantage of the eastbound repositioning cruises in the spring to get you there, and the westbounds in the fall to get you back to the US.

A travel agent can help you find cruises to get you to and from Europe. The chances of being on the same ship each way are very slim unless you are on the Queen Mary 2, which does regular trans-Atlantic crossings between New York and Southampton. However, there are other ships and cruise companies, and your travel agent should be able to find two cruises with enough time between arriving in Europe and departing Europe to give you the time you want. The travel agent will also be able to help you figure out your schedule in Europe — dates, cities, hotels, and ground transportation — and how you will get from home to the US departure city and from the arrival city back home again. (If they are the same, you can drive your car and leave it, and if they are not, you might consider train or bus or renting a car each direction.) Lots of details to work out, and your travel agent will be central in getting it all set up for you. By the way, I am NOT a travel agent!

Yes you can! No Flying involved.
I know MSC does departs Italy and makes several port stops. The port in France is Marseille. Your at that port ten hours, then its off to the next port!
Check out that deal and others at the website below.

As a certified cruise consultant and travel agent, I can tell you that are cruise lines that go to Italy, Greece, and other Mediterranean ports of call. You’ll be able to see all that you want to see and more while on your cruise, but you would have to fly. There are no ships that leave from the US that go to the Mediterranean. So, if you are in the US, you would have to fly. if you are in Europe, depending on where you are, there maybe some flying involved. If you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to contact me. Thanks!!
